Now Installed - Two Five-Axis Mikrons
XSM 600Us with 7 pallets.
At a cost of over 600K GBP. Two
of the fastest milling machines in the world, the
Ultra-High-Speed Mikron XSM 600U are now installed
at Hemlock Engineering. We are actively seeking subcontract
work to fill these machines and other 3/4 axis Haas
machines . The Five-Axis CNCs with 36000 rpm and 90m/min
rapids are aimed at small, medium or large batces of
complex aluminium components. The additional advantage
of 7 pallet automatic changers also enables unmanned
production throughout the night or weekend. Programming
is done offline using OPEN MIND / HyperMILL or MasterCAM
V12 and we are also able to import solid models from Pro-E,
CATIA, UNIGRAPHICS and others. With five-axis machining
even the most complex of components can be produced
in One-Hit from solid. Sometimes machining all around
a component and then employing a 'snap-off' method
from the holding lug means no second operations, guaranteed
dimensional relationships, consistency of components
and one-piece flow. These are massive price, delivery
and quality advantages.
Most Machining programs are created offline using
Open Minds HyperMILL V9. This powerful modelling and
programming environment can cope with even the most
complex of five-axis machining demands such as impellors
or port machining or any type of five-axis surfacing.
We can accept almost any type of
cad file so if you have an enquiry or would just like

Understanding the need for fast
development of new ideas and products, and with a
small team of highly experienced engineers operating
the latest NC controlled conventional machinery, Hemlock
is able to provide a quick turnaround on prototype
work.
With an unrivaled knowledge of
CNC machining techniques, our team is able to provide
consultancy and advice to value engineer a component
or assembly to simplify production for larger volumes
whilst ensuring they are totally fit for purpose.
In addition to our machining facilities we also operate a separate assemby facility
enabling clients to buy in fully or partially assembled products.
